you’ve been following me for the past two weeks, are following this podcast for the fest past couple of weeks. I’ve been on a really huge personal brand push and one of the things that I’ve been doing really the main thing that I’ve been doing is just pushing stuff through my actual personal facebook profile, not through a business page, not through a public figure page, just through my actual personal profile. And um, it’s had amazing results. I mean the results I’m making twice as many, 10 times as many connections. So I have 10 times at least 10 times more people reaching out to me, um, you know, potential leads and I’m closing twice as many. I’m thinking it’s because I’m reaching more people for one. So they’re unreachable more people and they’re, they’re able to kind of go through that know, like, and trust process a little bit quicker when you’re doing things for your personal profile instead of a business page, there may be something to the fact that if you’re going through your personal page and you’re providing value through your personal page that you are putting yourself out there a bit more and people may be less skeptical of what you’re doing and what you’re selling.
So definitely going to keep doing that. I did not do a facebook live yesterday just because personal stuff like my kid’s been sick and then I got slammed with elsie stuff and I wanted to just focus on getting those little cs, you know, done. And I had a bunch of phone appointments and then at the end of the day I was just like, you know, if I do a facebook live it’s going to be half assed and I don’t want to do that. I’d rather just not do one. So I knew I was going to do one every week. I mean every day this week. Missed one yesterday, but the previous one that I did with leslie black went so well that if you listened to the podcast yesterday, that’s what I used as the podcast. Um, people that never are not even really interested in business reached out to me about, about that facebook live and it had another do with me.
Leslie is just a pro and a, it was her first facebook live but she killed in dish mainly just because she’s so knowledgeable. It’s not like you have to be a great performer or something to be on facebook live, but if you have a grasp on what you’re talking about, what she sure as hell did, um, then there’s no reason not to do it. And she talked really broadly about stuff. We were talking a little bit afterwards and about just kind of future topics. And I said you could really drill that down into like 10 different facebook lives because she talked about everything. She, you know, not everything she knows, but the big time problems that, that her clients have. And that’s so super helpful because that does the same problems that everybody has. When it comes to bookkeeping and finances and getting everything straight and what’s the first step to take and then a little bit more of the advanced stuff, you know, after you take those first couple of steps down the road, how are you going to save money on taxes and just all of that.
So it was great. I wish her the best of luck with she’s going to be launching a course. I think she’s going to have a massive, massively valuable course. You never know who’s going to buy what. But if I was a betting man, I would be betting that she’s going to have a pretty successful launch on that course just because her content is so. It’s real, it’s actually accurate and it’s good. And so really enjoyed that. We’re going to be hopefully working together a lot more. So in the process of building out my personal brand, using my facebook as successful as it’s been, I, I’ve made a mistake. Um, there’s one thing that if I could go back and do differently, I would. And it may be that there’s just some setting in facebook messenger that I’m unaware of. So every time I’m connecting with all these people, so I’m not even sure where I’m at.
I’m probably at about. I’m definitely over 3000 friends now. So I’ve gone up, you know, 2,500 people in a week. And every time those people reached out to me by messenger, I thought facebook messenger would be a great place to, to interact with everybody. And I talked about this last week. I made my first deal all the way through facebook, you know, like meeting somebody on facebook, exchanging messages, making a phone call through facebook messenger and sending my payment link through facebook messenger. And that worked. And I’ve done a couple more like that. It’s not the only now I’ve done two or three deals like that, um, in the past week since then. But every time I connect with one of these new people in Messenger, I get a notification that says like, you know, you’re connected with this person in a messenger. And I used to love that because I would go through those and do, does a message or voice message drops [inaudible] and personally reach out to each person.
But as I’ve been growing this thing like so quick, it’s just not reasonable for me to send [inaudible] 500 [inaudible], which is just a little recording voice recording, introducing myself to people. Um, it’s just not reasonable. So when people reach out to me, I respond, I try to, but for the most part there’s too many people. So here’s where the mistake comes in. It’s, I talked with people on there and I just was basically assuming I could use that kind of as a crm on its own. I have hubspot, so I use that as my crm, meaning I, I put the customer name and information in there, phone number, email, and it keeps track of when you’ve had contact with them. And I just thought messengers good enough to do that on, on its own. And if you have 500 people in messenger, that’s fine. But when you’re adding 2000 people, stuff gets lost.
I can’t even find like to have the conversations with the people that I pretty sure that if I would just follow it up with them, I would be able to make a sale. I can’t even find them in my messenger and I, it’s just, I’ve talked to so many people I can’t remember. So I made a mistake. It costs me money, costs me sales. So if you, if you are doing, you know, if you’re using facebook to build your personal brand, you’re growing at huge real quick. Just don’t get lazy on that. It was just laziness on my part. I just thought I don’t need to. I don’t like to take this stuff done in hubspot. It’s all right here in messenger and in facebook messenger every day. So I’ll, I’ll clearly see this. Not expecting that a thousand, they’re going to be a thousand messages between, um, the time that I talked to him at the time I wanted to follow up.
So two people probably lost sales or at least lost credibility with those people because they’re just like, I was like, yes, I’ll follow up. And even though both of them were not like right now, they were like, you know, let us know and we’re pretty interested and all I needed to do was just follow up and say, Hey, do you feel comfortable? You know what we talked about? Here’s how you can reach out to you so you can make payment. If you’re ready to get started, that’s it. And probably at least one of those would have closed and that would’ve been several hundred more dollars than money in perpetuity. But lesson learned, when you lose a deal because of a mistake, you better not make that mistake twice because you keep making that mistake. You’ll be out of business and follow up is really where the money’s at.
Referrals are big cause you generally, those people come to you pre-sold. A cold traffic is really important if you’re driving paid traffic, but if you’re a following up with people, there is just no reason to even be in business because why waste all your time trying to convert cold leads. When you have somebody that’s warm and already you’ve already actually spoken to on the phone and walk and provided them value, so I made a mistake lesson learned. Hopefully you don’t make that same mistake, so if you’re growing your personal brand on your facebook, if there’s some setting in facebook messenger that I’m unaware of, I’m going to look into that today and see if I can get that turned off, get that feature turned off where it notifies me and puts a message in my actual messenger stating, you know, you’ve connected with this person.
If I can turn that off, I will and I’ll let you know about that tomorrow if possible, but if you can’t do that, just make a spreadsheet. If you don’t have a crm, just make an actual spreadsheet on google sheets and just put the person’s name in the time you talk to them in the day you want to follow up with them. That’s all a crm does. That’s all it does. You could probably set up a notification in there to using some sort of automation tool like Zapier, but I’m not going to go that far either way.
